The Goan beaches were well protected by natural sand dunes, vegetation, proper water culverts etc which was conveniently destroyed by the building lobby along with the kind love off the local punches and the local MLA so why blame the poor river princess, the Portuguese or our ancestors had protected every bit of the environment, the culverts were planned in such a manner that there was no need of even planning the future, if it was maintained the way it was. But even that was looted and destroyed. Every land of coconut plantation had a low laying area where the water would accumulate in the rains thanks to the local punches to change the total look of our villages, so forget saving the beaches any further , instead think of making some more money for the looters of our lovely villages, cut the sand dunes make more provisions for shacks more hotel all the way to the shore, even when the save champagne in going on illegal construction are coming on the beaches off calangute , baga and candolim which will go unnoticed so why the all this. Just leave it to God to come again with fire and water

Beaches in port blair is also getting destroyed as the dumpyard of the municipal is next to the carbyn’s cove beach this gets decomposed and with incessant rains the same flows in the sea along with the residue of the waste which is burnt gets into the sea further killing all micro organism, changing the colour of the sand and whole lot of coral reef in missing. the local administration has not taken any initative.to add fuel in the fire the whole quarry belt which is from the cabynscove beach to brichgunj area has also done a serious damage to the environment, the migratory birds, snakes all have vanished due to the blasting operations in the quarry. very year the lisence is renewed inspite of large oppositions from the residents of the area.
The same can be viewed from google earth.
Ndtv shoul send a rep and take survey of the crushing and quarrying operations in port blair, all logistics support can be arranged.
